Catcher’s Training for Legs - Strength Without The Soreness!

Posted on Wednesday, September 23rd, 2009

A good baseball workout will separate pitcher’s from position players
in terms of the exercises and drills that are performed. Obviously, the
physical responsibilities of each player are different….
and therefore the training must be too.

But take that a step further and do you think it’s necessary to break down
the position players training even more?

Do we need to “cut the pie” even further and train certain positions differently
than others?

Well, when it comes to that one guy that sits behind the dish…I think it’s pretty
obvious that nobody else on the field shares similar responsibilities.

Who else needs to squat and stand repeatedly over 200 times a game?

Who else needs to have cat like reflexes to field his position…from their knees?!?

Who else needs to be able to take the field game after game after game, after enduring the above?

Well….it’s time to show some love and give you catchers out there a killer,
quick leg circuit that you can do that will help build your strength
in and out of season….and keep your legs feeling strong and
fresh from the first game to the last!

    Hey Jeff,
Will the new Load to Explode program be easy to incorporate into the 14 week MLIT program? I’ve been having great success with the MLIT program but feel like I need to kick it up a notch with my leg workouts and maybe add a few exercises. Would you recommend picking and choosing exercises from Load to Explode and adding them on to the workouts that I am already doing in MLIT?

    Neil,

How’s it going? Yes….the new L2E “Power Getting System” will be very easy to implement with the MLIT program. I would continue to do the MLIT program as scripted and work the L2E exercises into your leg training days. You’re going to love the new 2.0 Ignition series of L2E! I can’t wait for it’s release in just 12 days….

Still going great. Your programs are the best out there and I’m continuing to see great results. Cant wait for the new exercises!

    Jeff,
This is a great video. These exercises rock and I don’t have much soreness. I was just wondering if you endorse any supplements because I have recently read about a few on the internet and I’m not sure if they are legit despite being endorsed by pro athletes. Have you ever heard of advocare because they have multiple supplements that are supposed to help take your workout to the next level and really increase muscle gain, enhance performance, and reduce soreness. The website is http://www.advocare.com/products/performance_elite.aspx. Do you think it is legit? or do you yourself endorse any supplements that are not bad for you like steroids?

    Hi Reed,

The best supplement that I have found to give the greatest results without any of the negative side effects is the meal replacement called LEAN and post workout recovery drink called WORKOUT by Prograde Strength. It is available at http://progradestrength.com
I’d be glad to answer any of your questions about them if you have any.
